Helyne Jennings

Helyne Jennings | Mixed Media | Devon

Helyne works with mixed media on paper and fabric with hand and machine stitch to create her abstract wall pieces. Work is experimental combining stitch, drawing, painting, photography and print. Driven by emotion, a love of colour, surface and texture and with a passion for textile art she creates vibrant multi layered stitch work.

Helyne became a self employed textile /paper artist after graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1981. With the help of a Craft Council grant and the purchase of a large wall piece for the Craft Council Collection she set up a studio in Clerkenwell, London. Her work is in private and corporate collections (P&O, Raffles City, Sumitomo, Dorchester Abbey to name a few) and she has exhibited Nationally and Internationally with extensive experience working with interior designers, architects and the corporate sector. More information can be found on her website.

In 1995 Helyne moved back to her Devon roots to bring up her daughter still continuing to make her art work at home. She now lives in Torrington, continuing her exploration into textile art inspired by the surrounding land and seascapes and from being part of the strong creative caring community of the town.
