Mike Tingle
Mike Tingle | Printmaking | Devon
Printmaking has been central to Mike's career as an artist/craftsman. He developed a distinct style in fine line copperplate etching at the Gainsborough's House Printworkshop, Sudbury, Suffolk.
When he moved to Devon in 1995 he expanded his techniques to include embossing, drypoint, monoprints, and lino.
Humour is an intrinsic part of his artistic vision. Since 2016 he has worked on digital prints where the images are created on a computer and printed by specialist printers. You can see him print an etching in the old style on YouTube.
His 2020 exhibition at MAKE Southwest (formerly Devon Guild of Craftsmen), The Stuff of Nonsense, lead him to create, The Hey Diddle Apocalypse, an ongoing series about the pandemic and the climate crisis. Seriously funny.
